Hey guys. I decided I would start off my return to the blog world with another Eye On Japan article. Mostly covering gaming / anime news but interesting cultural evens pop in form time to time also.
Drag-on Dragoon 3 (Drakengard 3)
Square-Enix just announced the development of a new Drag-on-Dragoon game. Most of you probably have forgotten about this series. The first two games were basically Dynasty Warriors with a Dark Fantasy vibe and a "mature" story line. They were developed by a Square-Enix subsidiary called Cavia. This company also created one of my favorite games, Nier. After having created Nier they were absorbed into the main branch of Square-Enix and nothing has been heard of them since. This new game is being developed by a company called Access Games...whose history of development worries me a bit.On the bright side Yoko Taro is still the director as he was on the past few titles. Lets hope this means at least the story will be of quality.

Final Fantasy VIII International Version (PC)

Is this coming to the west? I haven't a clue. Is it suppose to be in HD?....yeah we will see. Apparently this has been confirmed to be the next PC release by Square. I have to admit I wouldn't mind seeing this game again in a smoothed HD Unlike FFVII, VIII isn't too old for it to be beyond saving. Fully body polygonal characters could easily be updated. Hey Square how about a PS3 version?!
Gackt + Rape
The musician / Actor / creative designer / whatever, Gackt is suing a tabloid magazine called Flash in Japan
, as the article had an “interview” with a lady who “confessed”
claiming that she had an encounter with Gackt where he had raped her for six
hours straight. Gackt of course is suing the magazine and publisher due to their
attempts to defame him.
